Middesk and Sweat AI: verification plus exception review

Sweat AI · Updated

Sweat AI is an AI-native BPO for banks and fintechs, starting with back-office workflows like KYB, onboarding and fraud reviews. Middesk is a business identity and KYB platform. People search for "Middesk alternatives," but for most teams the honest answer is that Middesk and Sweat AI do different jobs. Middesk verifies the business and automates the decision where it can. Sweat AI works the cases that still need a person. This page describes Middesk only from its own pages, read on September 30, 2026. Sweat AI has no partnership with Middesk.

What Middesk does

Middesk describes itself as "the business identity platform for banks, lenders, fintechs, and marketplaces," delivered "through a self-serve dashboard, REST APIs, and an MCP server for AI agents." Its homepage cites "400+ government and authoritative sources."

Its verification page lists "the full KYB stack":

  • business entity verification: "Legal name, DBA, entity type, formation date, address validation, and good standing across all 50 states";
  • UBO and KYC: "Beneficial owners identified, officers verified, identity confirmed on key principals";
  • compliance screening: "OFAC, sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and license checks";
  • web and online presence, industry classification, and document verification including "real-time IRS EIN validation with TIN matching."

Middesk has also moved into investigation. Its agents page describes "specialized agents that research, verify, and resolve" for "CIP, CDD, EDD, and merchant risk," with capabilities such as OFAC false positive resolution, address discrepancy investigation, ownership verification, litigation research and operating status confirmation.

Middesk is clear about what it automates and what remains. The verification page says "70% of verifications resolve without analyst intervention and every exception comes back with a recommendation, not just a signal." The homepage says "Your team handles exceptions. Everything else runs itself." The agents page adds: "Your team makes the call."

Where the work goes after verification

Every automated KYB flow ends with a set of cases a person must read. Using Middesk's own framing, that is the exception queue. Typical exceptions look like this:

  • an address the registry and the applicant disagree on, where the explanation is in a lease or a utility bill;
  • ownership held through a holding company or a foreign entity the US registry does not show;
  • a website or product description that does not match the business model or the merchant category applied for;
  • a document that proves less than the applicant thinks, such as a formation certificate offered as proof of current operations;
  • a screening hit that needs context before anyone can clear it.

Those cases take judgment and often a request back to the applicant. They also arrive at all hours. A platform that resolves most applications instantly still leaves the rest waiting for your analysts' next shift.

What Sweat AI adds

Sweat AI's analysts work that exception queue with AI. For each case your team receives:

  • the findings, each with a source excerpt and a capture time, starting from your data provider's output and adding registries, the applicant's documents and the open web;
  • what each applicant document proves, and what it does not;
  • one consolidated list of what is still needed from the applicant, with the reason for each item, so the applicant gets one request instead of several;
  • a recommendation. Your team makes the decision.

We work nights, weekends and holidays so the queue is done when your team logs in. See the format in our sample KYB review.

How the two fit together

In this setup Middesk remains your system for business identity data and automated decisions. Sweat AI adds analyst capacity for the part of the queue that Middesk itself says belongs to your team.

Choose Middesk alone if…

  • Most of your exceptions are the kinds Middesk's agents already target, such as OFAC false positives, address discrepancies and ownership verification, and its agents clear enough of them.
  • Your analysts keep up with the remaining exceptions within your service window, including weekends.
  • You want a single vendor for business identity data, registration and monitoring, integrated through an API or MCP.

Add Sweat AI if…

  • Exceptions pile up overnight and at weekends and applicants wait for your team to return.
  • Your exceptions need investigation beyond data checks: business model fit, complex ownership, document limits, website review.
  • You want each exception returned as a sourced review with one list of what is still needed from the applicant.
  • You want the final decision to stay with your team while the preparation happens off-hours.

Choose a Middesk competitor if…

If you are replacing your data provider, compare KYB platforms on data coverage, automation rates and price. That is a different decision from this page, and Sweat AI is not one of those platforms. The comparison hub explains the categories.

If your KYB platform resolves most applications and the rest sit in a queue until Monday, tell us about that queue. We will show you what a Sweat AI review of one of those cases looks like.

Questions

Is Sweat AI a Middesk alternative?

Not in the usual sense. Middesk is a business identity and KYB platform that supplies data, verification and automated decisions. Sweat AI is an AI-native BPO whose analysts work the review queue. Most teams that would use Sweat AI keep their KYB data provider.

What does Middesk automate?

Middesk's verification page covers entity verification across all 50 states, UBO and KYC on key principals, OFAC, sanctions, PEP, adverse media and license screening, web presence, industry classification and document verification. It says 70% of verifications resolve without analyst intervention.

What happens to the cases Middesk does not resolve?

Middesk says every exception comes back with a recommendation, and its agents page says "Your team makes the call." Those exceptions still need a person to read them. Sweat AI can be that person, nights and weekends included, while your team keeps the decision.

Does Middesk endorse or partner with Sweat AI?

No. Sweat AI has no partnership with Middesk, and nothing on this page implies one. We describe how the two kinds of service can fit together in a customer's own process.

Do I need Middesk to use Sweat AI?

No. Sweat AI works with whichever KYB data provider you use, or with public registries and applicant documents where you have none. If you already pay for a data provider, its output is a useful starting point for each review.
